Thanks to Bill Cameron for the photos from "Visual Grooves" at the Bedlam Theatre.
The evening featured dance/music collaborations from Molly Kay Stolz, Brasszilla, Matt Marka, Jennifer Mack, Ruth Glaeser, and me, and focused on rhythmically-motivated interactions between dancers and musicians.
Molly Kay Stoltz, Bob DeBoer, and Erinn Liebhard co-presented the event.
A special thanks to Jon Wood for curating the MN Jazz Guitar Summit at Jazz Central on Jan 16. Performers included Joan Griffith, Dean Granros, Chris Olson, Reuben Ristrom, Zacc Harris, David Feily, Geoff LeCrone, Chris Bates (Bass), Mac Santiago (drums), Jon Wood, Park Evans, Nick Champeau, and me.
Here are some photos of "A Guitar Trio" with Nick Champeau and Park Evans. Thanks Andrea Canter!
Anastasia Verdoljak, Taïs Szilagi, Dennis Shafer, Samuel Hickok and I had a great week teaching at the 2014 DVCC Performing Arts Camp this past July. Samuel Hickok founded the camp and has directed it for the past 5 years. Every July we offer classes in drama, dance, choir, guitar, woodwinds, writing music, strings, ukulele, jazz improv, and sound painting for students grade 1-8. Whew!!
On June 15, I took part in Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre's new Sunday Series. I performed with fellow guitarist Thomas Nordlund; the set ranged from flamenco-influenced compositions to arrangements off of Beck's Sea Change album. A fun night and a supportive audience!
Thanks to Andrea Canter for the photos from our May 23 show at Jazz Central--part of a going away concert for bassist Andrew Foreman. The Abrahamson Quartet featured Andrew Foreman, Zach Schmidt (drums), and Thomas Nordlund (baritone guitar) and me on the nylon-string. We covered Beck's album Sea Change
Here's a special thank-you to Corina Bernstein for capturing these video clips. She's taken some killer live concert photographs (for this website and those of many other performers in the Twin Cities), and you can find more of her work at http://www.corinabernstein.com/
Hey folks! It's been a long time, and here's a sketch to sharpen your appetite. I created it using live guitar, JamOrigin Midi Guitar, and Ableton Live Lite. Midi Guitar is a useful (and free) audio-to-midi converter. The whole thing sounds very 'epic soundtrack' to me.
